In front of the unique backdrop of the ancient theater of Fourvière, the Simple Minds play songs from their cult album New Gold Dream as well as other of their timeless hits.
The Simple Minds' success story began in Glasgow in 1977, when singer Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill came together as the hard core of the band. Their New Wave quickly made a splash in the UK, and the initially chilly, experimental style quickly gave way to more poppy influences, which were reflected in the 1982 album New Gold Dream. The record was a resounding success, with worldwide hits such as "Belfast Child", "Alive and Kicking" and "Don't You (Forget About Me)", which are now an integral part of pop history.
Over 45 years in the music business – that has to be celebrated! For the Nuits de Fourvière, the Simple Minds play all the tracks from their cult album New Gold Dream, which has lost none of its magic since 1982. As the crowning conclusion of the concert, the band delivers a selection of their greatest hits, which should delight not only the old fans, but also the younger generations.
