While in Berlin, Kobi takes the notebook to the Synagogue and gets a Shoah scholar to translate it into English. As he explores the city and visits memorials and museums, he reads the book, which is written by 'R' and is a love letter to her baby 'E', born out of wedlock in 1942. Gradually he realises that he is part of a tangled web stretching from the Holocaust to the present that will shatter lives and cast everything he has...
